Alex Jalenti's new EP entitled "Mirror of impressions" consists of 4 instrumental songs.
The sounds range ist very big: from modal jazz to hard bop, passing through boogie woogie, baroque contrapuntal music and post-romantic impressionism. A visionary musical journey through sounds that Alex Jalenti thinks and plays in a poetic context, centered on the poetic idea of the acoustic and metaphysical reflections of a "mirror", understood as a metaphor of his soul, deeply in love with music and life.

Track 1: "Caleidoscopio contrappuntistico" ( Alex Jalenti)

"Caleidoscopio contrappuntistico". The most varied and complex piece from a harmonic and melodic point of view. As in "Erleuchtung" and in other pieces of his first album "Liebesbriefe", Alex Jalenti draws musical chromatic and modal lines, with his left hand, showing a remarkable mastery of the "walking bass" technique, alternating them with imitative passages in "fugato" style, which recall the style of the Toccate by Frescobaldi, the favourite composer of Jalenti, during his studies as a harpsichordist. In fact, we are witnessing rapid counterpoint progressions, alternating with pauses and varied harmonic repetitions. The title clearly refers to the deconstruction and re-elaboration of the various musical images present in this original sound rhapsody, with its incisive and involving rhythmic "pathos".

Track 3: "Only for you" (Alex Jalenti)

"Only for you". This piece comes from a musical theme of a few notes, which Alex Jalenti's little daughter played one day on the piano; Alex Jalenti was struck by those sequence of notes and then drew a sweet and serene ballad, dedicated to his daughter. The title is a specific dedication to his daughter Sophia.

"Breakfast time" was composed on a Sunday during the summer, after eating a hearty breakfast, Alex Jalenti went to the piano and began to develop a harmonic melodic theme on the rhythm of jazz waltz. The result is an original and catchy piece with harmonic structures related to cool bop and modal jazz.
